Shely Pack Dancers
About Us
Shely Pack-Manning has been a dance educator on the San Mateo coast for nearly twenty years and an educator for over forty. She began her dance training in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she studied and danced with thePittsburgh Ballet Theater.
Shely was inaugurated as President of Dance Masters of America in July 2012, a two-year term. Dance Masters of America has been around in one form or another since 1884, when the American National Association Masters of Dancing was founded in Boston, MA. and in 1894, the International Masters of Dancing held its first convention in St. Louis, MO.

Shely has been recognized by the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts for her teaching and influence in encouraging and supporting students who have been recognized for their exceptional artistic achievements in the 1998-99 Arts Recognition and Talent Search Program.

Shely's studio, the Shely Pack Dancers, was named one of the top fifty studio's in the country by Dance Spirit Magazine.
Shely has recently been named “Arts Educator of the Year” by the San Mateo County Peninsula Arts Council.

The Shely Pack Dancers proudly lists as their accomplishments a Miss Dance of America 2000; Mr. Dance of America 2003; Teen Mr Dance of America 2001 & 2006, and Jr. Mr. Dance of America 2009. Shely’s students can be seen on Broadway, in National Touring Companies, music videos, television commercials, professional ballet and modern dance companies.
Her student JP Viernes was cast in the title role of “Billy Elliot” in Chicago, Toronto, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and other cities throughout the country and performed in over 150 professional performances before retiring from the show. His sister Lexi (who is also a member of the Shely Pack Dancers) was also cast in the show and toured with the show for an entire year before retiring. Another student, Kristin Oei, appeared in Spiderman the Musical on Broadway. Three students with the studio have won the Beach Blanket Babylon Scholarship for the Arts in San Francisco and a $10,000 prize for their dancing abilities.
